John is a native Floridian, born in Jacksonville; he graduated from high school in Daytona Beach and returned to Ormond Beach in 1987 after serving his country for more than nine years in the US Army. While serving a tour in Germany he met fellow soldier, Marybeth, they married in 1984 and have a daughter, Catherine, who is a senior at the University of South Florida. John has worked for a building materials manufacturer since 1987, advancing from driver to sales and now as Block Delivery Manager for Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte Counties.

In 1992 John was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason at Ormond Beach Lodge No. 326 where he served as Worshipful Master in 1995 and became a Perpetual Member shortly thereafter. In 1997, he and his family moved to Bradenton and in 2006 he became a Plural Member of Braidentown Lodge No..99 as well as a Perpetual Member. Since 2006 John has served as Committeemen for several District Deputy Grand Masters for the 27th Masonic District. He is Past High Priest of Manatee Chapter No. 18 Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master of Bradentown Council No. 9 Royal & Select Masters, he is currently Eminent Commander of Trinity Commandery No. 16 and is also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Tampa Consistory, The Allied Masonic Degrees, Knight Masons, York Rite College, Red Cross of Constantine, Royal Order of Scotland, Order of the Eastern Star and Sahib Shrine. He is currently serving the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters for the State of Florida as the Illustrious Grand Conductor of the Council.
