My Thanks
outlook_fix.png
December 4th marks my last stated meeting in the East. I have so much to be thankful for as my year as Worshipful comes to an end.  Every master starts his year with a long list of hopes, and quickly learns that accomplishing them is an uphill battle, and while my year didn't go according to the plan I had on paper I feel extremely proud of what we did accomplish.    The love and guidance from everyone has been tremendous inside and out of the lodge.   The support and bonds that have grown out of my Officers is by for one of the greatest Joys of sitting in the East this year.  I couldn't of survived this year, and we couldn't of accomplished what we did and I thank each and every one of you for your hard work and dedication.

It really is a bitter sweet feeling stepping out of the East, as I travel north to my next adventure. Saying Goodbye to my brothers and my lodge, but I find comfort looking into the future.  31 is in great hands, and I look forward to seeing what great strides forward it makes.  Bless you all and A very Happy Thanksgiving!   W:. Kyle B. Bachman
Happy Thanksgiving from the Tyler

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are all getting rid of the last of the Halloween candy and looking forward to Thanksgiving with friends and family.  Everyone has so much to be grateful for.  As we begin the Holiest seasons of the year, we should all take time to renew our relationship with the ones we love and old acquaintances.  Your Lodge is a good place to start.  The Lodge officer elections are the first meeting in December.  The month of November is an opportune time to once again familiarize yourself with the workings of the Lodge and help choose the leadership that will govern Manatee No. 31 for the year 2018.  Our Lodge is very fortunate to have great men willing to donate their time to Lodge service.  You need to get to know them.  After all, Manatee No. 31 is your Lodge!
All social organizations in our community are challenged with poor attendance or declining membership.  New ideas and meaningful relationships among the brothers of our Lodge can maintain our Lodge’s greatness and rightful place in our community which it has enjoyed since it was formed in 1853.
YOUR CHALLENGE:
Free Masonry is “THE BROTHERHOOD OF MAN UNDER THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD.”
Bring your ideas to Lodge, and help lead us to new horizons in the year 2018.
What would you like Manatee No.31 to be?
Fraternally

Are You One of the 10%?
outlook_fix.png
There have been many surveys conducted that have dealt with membership and participation in our lodges. They all point to about the same thing.  About 85% of masons are content just to be members of our ancient fraternity.  Only about 15% are active in lodge at all and less than 10% are very active. That may have worked well in years past when lodges had three times the number of members and there were fewer factors to keep them from attending, but not today.  For the past 10 years I have noticed the attendance decline at our lodge meetings and events. Yes, we have all heard the reasons: meetings are too long, work is overwhelming, meetings are boring, family comes first, the “appendant body” needs me and I can only support one, and “oh no… not another business meeting”. We get it. But consider this, the masters and officers have worked extremely hard over the past years in improving our lodge, providing Masonic education and improving the entire lodge experience both in and out of lodge. This has resulted in more concise focused meetings and more time to informally bond with each other.  If you are one of the 200 plus members we haven’t seen in a while, come back to your mother lodge. If you are a brother that has moved here from another location, come and knock at our door.  You can make a difference…… You can be one of the 10% that will take Manatee #31 into the future.

Respectfully,
Brother Mike McCullough
Important DUES information!!!
outlook_fix.png
The Dues increse takes effect for the 2018 year dues, we've had several brothers send in the incorrect amounts, causing confusions and issuses.  Paying online is now the quickest and easiest way to pay your dues. Head to  https://glfl.circumscribe.net/  to log in to your account, where you can pay via Credit, Debit, or Check.     The base amount of dues (including GL per capita) is $130 dollars. But we ask brothers please consider giving to the Scholarship and LYPMGS charities, which would bring the total to $149.  One helps give out the yearly Scholarships to Masonic Connected Youth, and the other to benefit the Masonic Home.   That extra little amount totals, a nickle a day!
Congratulations

Let there be Paint!
outlook_fix.png
If you haven't been by the lodge lately you are missing out.  After two Saturdays, we were able to get the first coat of new pain onto the building, and what a difference it makes!  W:. Bachman and Brother Carter, can not thank everyone that came out and helped enough.  We're right on budget and hopefully will have a plan in place soon for the second coat to go up.   It's worth helping out just to see how much paint Kyle and Tom end up covered in.
